Health and Safety Policy

GENERAL STATEMENT

Top Workwear UK is committed to taking all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees and others who may be affected by its operations. We aim to provide and maintain a safe and healthy working environment, safe systems of work, safe plant and equipment, and competent supervision to prevent injury and ill health.

Top Workwear UK recognises its duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations, including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, visitors and any other persons who may be affected by our work activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall responsibility for health and safety rests with the Directors of the business.

Day-to-day responsibility for the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of this policy is delegated to the Production Manager.

The Production Manager is responsible for:
• Implementing this Health and Safety Policy
• Ensuring risk assessments are carried out, reviewed and communicated
• Maintaining safe systems of work
• Ensuring machinery and equipment is safe and maintained
• Ensuring employees receive appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses
• Ensuring statutory inspections and records are maintained

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES

All employees must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others. Employees must follow safety instructions, use equipment correctly, report hazards immediately and cooperate with management.

SAFE SYSTEMS OF WORK

Safe systems of work are established for:
• Printing, embroidery and finishing equipment
• Manual handling of garments and materials
• Storage and handling of inks, chemicals and cleaning substances
• Housekeeping and workplace organisation

RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk assessments are conducted for all significant activities and reviewed regularly or when changes occur.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

Appropriate training and supervision are provided to ensure work is carried out safely.

ACCIDENT REPORTING

All accidents, incidents and near misses must be reported and recorded. Accident records are reviewed to identify trends and preventative actions. RIDDOR reporting will be completed where required.

FIRE SAFETY AND FIRST AID

Fire safety arrangements and first aid provisions are in place and maintained.

VISITORS AND CONTRACTORS

Visitors and contractors must comply with site safety rules.

MONITORING AND REVIEW

This policy will be reviewed annually.
